"The self-righting characteristics of the toy has come to symbolize the ability to have success, overcome adversity, and recover from misfortune." The EGGY by Minnimi. Part vinyl collectible, part stress relief/fidget toy. It is the culmination of years of collecting toys and figures, and the desire for something more interactive. EGGY has a clean and simplistic design, just like many other designer figures and statues. It makes a great companion to any office desk or book shelf. All EGGY figures feature a signature "egg" shape to them (hence the name). What they don't share, is "personality". Each figure comes with its own backstory that gives them life. EGGY figures are made of ABS plastic and include weights that allow them to sway back and forth. Each figure has two different weights. One that allows it to sway slowly, and one that sets it into a "frenzy". But WAIT! There's MORE!
Along with the figures, there will be special base, that will allow your EGGY figure to levitate. This platform will allow your EGGY to spin and bounce freely, while floating in mid-air. You can watch this HERE. Be sure to check out EGGY on Instagram and Facebook, for more info, and follow them to stay updated. Be ready for their Kickstarter launch COMING SOON.

With the hype of Pokemon GO seemingly dying down, its companion accessory, the Pokemon GO Plus, seems to be becoming more and more available. At the launch of this small wearable, it became sold out, almost instantly. And it remained that way for quite some time. It got to the point where the only way to get your hands on one was to buy it on eBay, for upwards of $200. Well, it seems that those days are long gone. It is still a bit of a challenge to get the Pokemon GO Plus for retail, but if you don't mind paying a little extra you can find one on eBay or third-party Amazon sellers, for around $45. Now that the Pokemon GO Plus has become (somewhat) more available, I was finally able to get my hands on one. The GOOD
The pokemon GO Plus was made to be a companion wearable for the Pokemon GO app. It's main purpose was to allow you to still complete some of the in-game tasks, without needing to keep your phone in hand. It does this almost perfectly on both iOS and now also Android. With this device, as long as the app is running in the background, you can catch pokemon (as long as you have regular Pokeballs) and collect items from Pokestops. The actual device itself is a little Pokeball stylized map pin, with a single button in the center. It comes included with a wrist strap, as well as a clip-on backplate. The device, although small and light, feels very solid. I would think that any small bumps or drops wouldn't do much other than cause some cosmetic damage, but nothing too serious. Once connected, the Pokemon GO Plus notifies you whenever you are near a wild Pokemon or a Pokestop. I've had a few instances where the Plus failed to notify me when I was near a Pokestop, but for the most part, the notifications are spot on. The "BAD" When the Pokemon GO Plus first launched, it was reported that it had issues connecting to Android phones. Now, thanks to several updates, this issue is supposed to be fixed. I've had no issues with connections to my LG V10. So, it appears, that this issue is no longer a concern. The one issue that I have had with the Pokemon Go Plus, is the strap. The wrist strap that comes with the device looks like a thick shoelace. It is easily loosened and the clamp on it feels cheap and can be opened even with a light bump. Thanks to Phandroid, there is a solution to this. You can find the article HERE. The Verdict Overall, the Pokemon GO Plus is a solid device that works as its supposed to. However, unless your intentions for getting one are purely to keep your phone out of your hands, I wouldn't say that it's necessary. As I said earlier, the only (minor) issue that I have with the device is the poor wrist strap. Other than that, the Pokemon GO Plus is a great add-on for the Pokemon GO app. What is Wall-Ah? -Sebestian Paul With the popularity of monthly subscription boxes growing, it is no surprise that more companies are joining the "boxy" bandwagon. The latest one to come up is Mine Chest. Mine Chest is the official subscription box for Minecraft. Most of you know Minecraft as the widely popular sandbox game. Now, you will be able to get a monthly dose of Minecraft goodness delivered to your door. The first Mine Chest is currently available for preorder. The subscription is priced at $29.99 (plus S&H and taxes). The box will be filled with exclusive items; ranging from clothing, to collectibles, and even DIY crafting projects. You can find more information on Mine Chest HERE. Thoughts Personally, I am a big fan of most subscription boxes, and I'm excited to see what Mine Chest has to offer. Although the Mine Chest subscription is priced higher than most other boxes, it isn't by much. For example, the Funko Subscription boxes (Marvel Collector Corps, Star Wars Smuggler's Bounty, and DC Legion of Collectors) are priced at about $35 every other month. While Mine Chest is about $40 every month. Is the Mine Chest worth it's fairly steep price? With its first box not shipping out until May, it is definitely to early to tell. We'll just have to wait and see.
With Toy Fair NY 2016 just over one week away, it is possible that we will begin seeing toy leaks ahead of the event. Now, as with leaks in the technology industry, many of these leaks should be taken with a grain of salt. Some of them might be legit, some might be false leaks to hint at what's to come, and others might just be flat out lies. The image above (along with another one) was shared on Twitter by Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds, with the caption "Dammit, Fox! I said no toy fairs! Totally spoiling key #Deadpool scenes...". Although this Lego set is false, it is a great idea. An idea that I personally hope becomes reality. I would love to see Official Deadpool Movie Lego Sets. Also, it is fun to see these mock-up Lego sets, and all the Easter Eggs they hold. Let's take a look at the box art and see how many Easter Eggs we can find:
Space Battle
If I missed anything, please feel free to let me know. Thoughts As I said earlier, it would be amazing to see Lego sets based on the Deadpool Movie. Even one of the sets shown above would be pretty cool. As far as I know, Deadpool has only been featured in Lego form once. It was in the Lego Marvel SUPERHEROES X-Men Set "Wolverine's Chopper Showdown". Funko is at it again. Earlier this year, Funko and Marvel partnered up to bring toy collectors the Marvel Collector Corps. The Collector Corps is a subscription box delivered every other month. In each box, you are sent exclusive items including an exclusive Funko Pop! in every box. Now, Star Wars will be offering the same subscription. This box, named the Smuggler's Bounty. This box is currently available to pr-order, and will ship its first box in November. You will be able to order the first box until November 11th. The first Smuggler's Bounty box will include two exclusive Pop! vinyl figures. Just like the Marvel Collector Corps, each Smuggler's Bounty box will cost $25 (plus shipping and taxes), and includes $50 worth of exclusive content. Thoughts
I am very excited to see what is included in the Smuggler's Bounty box. I am currently subscribed to the Marvel Collector Corps, and have enjoyed every box. I am also excited to see the DC Comics box. The only info on this box, is that it will be called the Legion of Collectors. Be sure to stay tuned, I will provide more information when it becomes available. During a Pre-PAX event, Nintendo made a few announcements. One of these announcements was a new Amiibo figure. This figure was made in collaboration with Indie developer Yacht Club Games. The figure, made as a companion to their game Shovel Knight. The Shovel Knight Amiibo is going to be the first official Amiibo for a third-party game. The figure will be produced and distributed by Yacht Club Games. It seems like Nintendo will only be involved in the advertising process. The Shovel Knight Amiibo will unlock exclusive features for the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game. Cooperative Multiplayer (exclusive to Wii U)! Join a friend’s Shovel Knight campaign and shovel together!Use new cooperative moves to help each other out along the way! Deep Customization! Level up by defeating enemies and finding treasure!Earn all-new relics, abilities, and powers you never thought possible!Customize the look of your Shovel Knight with cool and crazy cosmetic options!Use your custom amiibo seamlessly between 3DS and Wii U! Exclusive Challenge Stages! Battle your way through amiibo exclusive challenge stages that take advantage of the new amiibo relics and abilities! One amiibo, multiple games We plan to continue support of the Shovel Knight amiibo in future Yacht Club Games and Nintendo products! Stay tuned to amiibo.com for compatibility details in new games. Final Thoughts
Personally, I think that Nintendo is using the possibility of Amiibo figures as an incentive for third-party developers. It is exciting to who else (if anyone else) will get Amiibo figures, in terms of third-party developers. What are your thoughts on the Shovel Knight Amiibo? I think he looks great. There is no doubt, when it comes to making new Pop! Figures, Funko is showing no signs of slowing down. These past few days, there has been an array of new Pop! Vinyl Figures announced. Hot Topic Exclusive Jack the Pumpkin King (Glow In The Dark) It is no surprise that Funko was making additional Nightmare Before Christmas Pop! vinyls, those were announced some time ago. Up until recently however, there was no word of any variants of these new figures hitting the market. That was until a photo was posted on a Hot Topic store's Instagram page. This Pop! is currently in select Hot Topic stores, and will more than likely, be available on the Hot Topic website at a later date. Frozen Fever Pop! Figures Of course, you can't have new Pop! variants without making a few new Frozen Pop! Vinyls. In this case, the newest additions to the Frozen line-up are; 'Frozen Fever' Anna and 'Frozen Fever' Elsa. Both of these vinyls feature three mini snowman companions. They also feature a few changes to their look. Anna features a green floral dress and a bouquet of sunflowers, while Elsa also features a floral dress (in her own style) as well as an assortment of flowers in her hair. These Frozen Fever Pop! Figures are scheduled to be released September 2015. It is yet to be announced if they will be exclusive to any particular store. Bob's Burgers Pop! Figures Although variant Pops are great (most of the time), now it's time for a completely new line of Pop! Vinyls. Based on what I've seen online, this is a highly requested Pop! line. Bob's Burgers is finally getting its own line of Funko Pop! Figures. Aside, from the figures included in the collection, there is not much information on these figures. There is no estimated arrival date, or possible retailers. Although, as of now it appears that the initial line-up is purely commons. So, unless exclusive variants are announced, the collection will more than likely be available at multiple retailers. As shown in the picture above, the initial line of Bob's Burgers Pop! Figures will include;
-Bob Belcher -Linda Belcher -Tina Belcher -Louise Belcher -Gene Belcher Final Thoughts Personally, I am most excited for the Glow in the dark Pumpkin King. I am not a big collector of the Frozen Pop! line, and have never seen Bob's Burgers. What about you? Are you excited for any of the latest announcements from Funko? Why? Why not? Earlier today, Nerdist revealed that two new Marvel Funko Pop! Vinyl Figures that are going to be released later this year. Dancing Groot Variant Yes, one of the new Marvel Pop! figures to come out later this year is yet another variant for Dancing Groot (Groot in the pot). This new variant is a special Holiday Edition. It features Dancing Groot, in a green pot wrapped with a red bow. I think that the Holiday Dancing Groot will definitely be a fan favorite, considering the fact that Groot is already HUGELY popular. The Holiday Dancing Groot Pop! Vinyl Figure will be available September, 2015. Director Coulson and Lola Pop! Ride The second Pop! vinyl revealed by Nerdist is part of the Pop! Rides line. It features Director (Agent) Coulson and his prized flying car Lola. Please Note: The Lola Pop! Ride does not actually fly. As many of you know, there is currently a stand-alone Agent Coulson Pop! Figure. But if you already own the solo Coulson, you don't have to worry about having duplicate Pop! Figures. This is thanks to the fact that the Addition of Lola isn't the only difference from the original Coulson Pop! The Director Coulson Pop! Figure features a different colored suit (grey, rather than the blue included with the Agent Coulson Pop!). The Director Coulson and Lola Pop! Ride will be available in October. Final Thoughts
Both of these additions to the ever growing line of Marvel Pop! Figures are definitely must have additions to my collection. What about you guys? Do you have any interest in Holiday Dancing Groot or Director Coulson and Lola, or both. A couple of months ago, Toy Tokyo announced a protective case for Funko Pop! vinyl figures, called Pop! Stacks. These Pop! protective cases are official products of Funko, and sold exclusively by Toy Tokyo. Unlike the Pop! protectors that have existed before these are not made of a thin, flimsy plastic (not much thicker than the window on the Pop! vinyl boxes). These protectors are made of a durable polycarbonate material. Another difference between the the Pop! Stacks and the alternative protectors is the pricing. The alternate protectors average about $1 a piece, while the Pop! Stacks cost $8. That's why it is recommended by many that these protectors only be used for very special or rare Pop! figures. The Pop! Stacks feature two lids (top and bottom), and are fairly durable. They are far more protective than the cheaper alternatives. These removable lids offer easy access, to insert or remove the Pop! figure The case is made to fit exactly with the average Pop! figure. So any deformities in the box, if severe enough will not allow the Pop! to fit properly.
The Down Side Besides the higher price point, the Pop! Stacks feature another disadvantage. Although durable, they are not unbreakable. A fall onto a hard floor from the height of the average shelf can cause these protectors to break. As long as these Protectors are kept in a stable place, they will be great for protecting your valuable Pop!s. Final Thoughts Even with the pricing and chances of breaking, I personally think that these protectors are worth getting. As stated earlier, as long as they are kept in a stable area the Stacks will do an amazing job protecting your most valuable Pop! possessions. |
