During a Pre-PAX event, Nintendo made a few announcements. One of these announcements was a new Amiibo figure. This figure was made in collaboration with Indie developer Yacht Club Games. The figure, made as a companion to their game Shovel Knight. The Shovel Knight Amiibo is going to be the first official Amiibo for a third-party game. The figure will be produced and distributed by Yacht Club Games. It seems like Nintendo will only be involved in the advertising process. The Shovel Knight Amiibo will unlock exclusive features for the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game. Cooperative Multiplayer (exclusive to Wii U)! Join a friend’s Shovel Knight campaign and shovel together!Use new cooperative moves to help each other out along the way! Deep Customization! One amiibo, multiple games We plan to continue support of the Shovel Knight amiibo in future Yacht Club Games and Nintendo products! Stay tuned to amiibo.com for compatibility details in new games. Final Thoughts
Personally, I think that Nintendo is using the possibility of Amiibo figures as an incentive for third-party developers. It is exciting to who else (if anyone else) will get Amiibo figures, in terms of third-party developers. What are your thoughts on the Shovel Knight Amiibo? I think he looks great.

There is no doubt, when it comes to making new Pop! Figures, Funko is showing no signs of slowing down. These past few days, there has been an array of new Pop! Vinyl Figures announced. Hot Topic Exclusive Jack the Pumpkin King (Glow In The Dark) It is no surprise that Funko was making additional Nightmare Before Christmas Pop! vinyls, those were announced some time ago. Up until recently however, there was no word of any variants of these new figures hitting the market. That was until a photo was posted on a Hot Topic store's Instagram page. This Pop! is currently in select Hot Topic stores, and will more than likely, be available on the Hot Topic website at a later date. Frozen Fever Pop! Figures Of course, you can't have new Pop! variants without making a few new Frozen Pop! Vinyls. In this case, the newest additions to the Frozen line-up are; 'Frozen Fever' Anna and 'Frozen Fever' Elsa. Both of these vinyls feature three mini snowman companions. They also feature a few changes to their look. Anna features a green floral dress and a bouquet of sunflowers, while Elsa also features a floral dress (in her own style) as well as an assortment of flowers in her hair. These Frozen Fever Pop! Figures are scheduled to be released September 2015. It is yet to be announced if they will be exclusive to any particular store. Bob's Burgers Pop! Figures Although variant Pops are great (most of the time), now it's time for a completely new line of Pop! Vinyls. Based on what I've seen online, this is a highly requested Pop! line. Bob's Burgers is finally getting its own line of Funko Pop! Figures. Aside, from the figures included in the collection, there is not much information on these figures. There is no estimated arrival date, or possible retailers. Although, as of now it appears that the initial line-up is purely commons. So, unless exclusive variants are announced, the collection will more than likely be available at multiple retailers. As shown in the picture above, the initial line of Bob's Burgers Pop! Figures will include;
-Bob Belcher -Linda Belcher -Tina Belcher -Louise Belcher -Gene Belcher Final Thoughts Personally, I am most excited for the Glow in the dark Pumpkin King. I am not a big collector of the Frozen Pop! line, and have never seen Bob's Burgers. What about you? Are you excited for any of the latest announcements from Funko? Why? Why not? Earlier today, Nerdist revealed that two new Marvel Funko Pop! Vinyl Figures that are going to be released later this year. Dancing Groot Variant Yes, one of the new Marvel Pop! figures to come out later this year is yet another variant for Dancing Groot (Groot in the pot). This new variant is a special Holiday Edition. It features Dancing Groot, in a green pot wrapped with a red bow. I think that the Holiday Dancing Groot will definitely be a fan favorite, considering the fact that Groot is already HUGELY popular. The Holiday Dancing Groot Pop! Vinyl Figure will be available September, 2015. Director Coulson and Lola Pop! Ride The second Pop! vinyl revealed by Nerdist is part of the Pop! Rides line. It features Director (Agent) Coulson and his prized flying car Lola. Please Note: The Lola Pop! Ride does not actually fly. As many of you know, there is currently a stand-alone Agent Coulson Pop! Figure. But if you already own the solo Coulson, you don't have to worry about having duplicate Pop! Figures. This is thanks to the fact that the Addition of Lola isn't the only difference from the original Coulson Pop! The Director Coulson Pop! Figure features a different colored suit (grey, rather than the blue included with the Agent Coulson Pop!). The Director Coulson and Lola Pop! Ride will be available in October. Final Thoughts
Both of these additions to the ever growing line of Marvel Pop! Figures are definitely must have additions to my collection. What about you guys? Do you have any interest in Holiday Dancing Groot or Director Coulson and Lola, or both. A couple of months ago, Toy Tokyo announced a protective case for Funko Pop! vinyl figures, called Pop! Stacks. These Pop! protective cases are official products of Funko, and sold exclusively by Toy Tokyo. Unlike the Pop! protectors that have existed before these are not made of a thin, flimsy plastic (not much thicker than the window on the Pop! vinyl boxes). These protectors are made of a durable polycarbonate material. Another difference between the the Pop! Stacks and the alternative protectors is the pricing. The alternate protectors average about $1 a piece, while the Pop! Stacks cost $8. That's why it is recommended by many that these protectors only be used for very special or rare Pop! figures. The Pop! Stacks feature two lids (top and bottom), and are fairly durable. They are far more protective than the cheaper alternatives. These removable lids offer easy access, to insert or remove the Pop! figure The case is made to fit exactly with the average Pop! figure. So any deformities in the box, if severe enough will not allow the Pop! to fit properly.
The Down Side Besides the higher price point, the Pop! Stacks feature another disadvantage. Although durable, they are not unbreakable. A fall onto a hard floor from the height of the average shelf can cause these protectors to break. As long as these Protectors are kept in a stable place, they will be great for protecting your valuable Pop!s. Final Thoughts Even with the pricing and chances of breaking, I personally think that these protectors are worth getting. As stated earlier, as long as they are kept in a stable area the Stacks will do an amazing job protecting your most valuable Pop! possessions. Batman: Thrillkiller In this Elseworlds tale, Bruce Wayne's parents were not murdered during a mugging. Instead, they were murdered by their servants, and young Bruce was left with nothing. He was forced to sell his one and only possession, his home. The house was sold to Barbara Gordon, who earned a fortune off of her murdered mother's insurance policy. Barbara later went on to become the vigilante, Batgirl. She took on a partner in the form of the Man Wonder, Robin. Bruce Wayne went on to become a decorated detective. Batgirl and Robin are on a personal crusade to bring down the corrupt police force that is under the control of the Joker (who in this interpretation is a woman). For a majority of this series showcases the partnership between Batgirl and Robin. This is until Robin Dies. Then Bruce Wayne takes on the mantle of BATMAN. Thrillkiller Batman Funko POP! This Funko POP! variant of Batman is an exclusive for Midtown Comics, in New York. Unfortunately, this Funko POP! Batman faces the same issue as most other Batman POP! figures. This issue is the fact that, other than some changes to the paint this version of batman is almost identical to the others. None the less, this POP! is a must have for any Funko and/or Batman collector. Plus, for all you "in box" collectors, the back of the box features some great cover art from the Thrillkiller miniseries. I am a fan of the black and red color scheme, which is slightly similar to the Earth 2 version of the Batman POP! figure. As an added bonus, I and a lot of other POP! collectors have had the pleasure of receiving this Batman figure shipped in PERFECT condition, which unfortunately doesn't always happen. So, a huge thank you to Midtown Comics on their packing and shipping care.
It was Spring 1940, when Issue No. 1 of BATMAN was published. That means, (as you probably guessed by the title), this year marks the 75th anniversary for the Batman comics. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the people over at Funko and Entertainment Earth decided to do a series of Entertainment Earth Exclusive Pop figures. About Rainbow Batman "They'll find no gold at the end of this rainbow...only prison." -Batman (wearing rainbow-colored costume) In 1957 (Seventeen years after the release of the original BATMAN comic), issue No. 241 of DETECTIVE COMICS was released. This was the comic book that featured RAINBOW BATMAN. In this comic book, Dick Greyson injures his arm, saving a girl's life during a robbery. He later begins searching for the criminals as Robin. During which, Batman begins wearing several different colored suits. After Robin finds the thieves and Batman apprehends them, Batman changes back to his original suit. He explains that he used the special colored suits to attract attention to himself and away from Robin. Batman was concerned that people might realize Robin had injured his arm, just like Dick Greyson.
About the Pops! The set of Rainbow Batman Funko Pops are available exclusively on Entertainment Earth. There are a total of six Pops in the set; Pink (instead of Red), Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple. These, like most Funko Pops are the standard 3.75" Pops. Review (Quick Thoughts) The Two Rainbow Batmans that I received are the Green and the Purple. When I got them in the mail the boxes were damaged. This is not however, the fault of Entertainment Earth. They took care in making sure the package had sufficient protection, and was labeled "FRAGILE: HANDLE WITH CARE". The delivery service clearly did not. Apart from the colors, all the Rainbow Batman Pops look identical; and feature the same mold used on other Batman Pops. For me, this does not put high priority to complete the set, BUT I do like the ones I have. Green and purple are mine and my sister's favorite colors, making these two PERFECT. Funko just announced their newest line of Pop! Figures. We've known these ones were coming for some time now, thanks to concept art and glamor shots. This set will include 6 vinyl figures for its initial run. These characters include; -Fish Mooney -Harvey Bullock -James Gordon -Selina Kyle -Bruce Wayne -Oswald Cobblepot This set of Pop! Figures is part of the Pop! Heroes line, rather than the Pop! Television line. The GOTHAM Pop! Figures are going on sale in September, but are available now for pre-order on Entertainment Earth (links above). Thoughts
Personally, I like the design of these Pop! Figures. Oswald and Selina Kyle are my favorites. They all look great, but I really enjoy the detail on these two figures, in particular. What do you think of the new Gotham Pop! Figures? |
